“They say the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result. Part of our ability to succeed has been our honesty with our developers with regard to what it takes to be successful. To be able to succeed today, developers need flexible sales and marketing programs. Together we find ways to identify and market to serious buyers.”
—Myles Newell, Principal
Myles Newell has worked in resort real estate spanning from North America to South America to The Caribbean. His career began approximately two decades ago while attending North Carolina State University. As an undergraduate, Myles worked full time as a licensed real estate salesman and licensed general contractor. From the beginning, Myles has worked in almost every facet of the business from residential real estate and commercial real estate to appraisal, mortgage and construction. He ultimately settled into the resort real estate sector in 1997.
Myles began his career with The Bluegreen Corporation at Winding River Plantation in Southport, NC where he routinely won Sales Executive of the Year. In 1999 Myles joined Ginn Real Estate Company as VP of Sales for its first project in Florida—Hammock Beach. Under Myles’ leadership, Hammock Beach went from an upstart to selling hundreds of millions of dollars of real estate annually.
In July 2004 Myles was promoted to Executive Vice President of Ginn Real Estate Company where he oversaw multiple communities and helped generate over $4 billion dollars in sales. Myles eventually took over sole sales and marketing responsibility for all of Ginn’s resort communities (Reunion in Orlando, FL; Ginn Sur Mer on Grand Bahama Island; Laurelmor in Boone, NC; Hammock Beach in Palm Coast, FL). Myles left Ginn in 2007 to start Waypoint Real Estate Consulting in order to provide services for developers, builders, and sales managers in need of leadership in a challenging real estate market.
As a Waypoint principal, Myles has orchestrated successful sales results with many of the leading brands and development companies in resort real estate. He has been featured in national press including Florida Investor, Urban Land and Florida Real Estate Journal.
Myles is a featured speaker as well as a sales trainer at several large real estate conferences. His responsibility within Waypoint focuses on new business development, client relationships, overall sales and marketing, strategic planning and onsite execution.
